Official Low-Down

As many of you already know, we have applied for service in the Peace Corps. This process began in the summer as we looked at different agencies to serve abroad with. Since we have known each other, we have both had a strong desire to be in service of others in a place where we might feel like a minority. We considered the Peace Corps, MCC, VSO and several others in this search. The Peace Corps felt like a good fit and the time-frame was what we had in mind. After completing a rigorous online application, requesting recommendations and interviewing for 2 and a half hours in Wichita, we now know nothing new. The liaison in charge of the interview (a liaison between hopeful candidates and the government) gave us the impression that we would be desirable and told us to hold our breath for 2 or 3 weeks. We have requested a placement somewhere in Africa, Central America, South America or the Caribbean and Pacific Islands. We really have no idea what we are doing. It is exciting though and we hope to start service in the summer or shortly thereafter. We will keep you posted.

Hmm. . . somehow I missed the part about the Caribbean whenever we talked about this. I would now like to change my vote for your placement location.
