Ouch!!

A rare moment in my life. I actually questioned the sanity of running a marathon. Under-trained and still slightly injured (from too many hard miles in late October) I found my run on December 9th to be the most painful yet. But, it was only a moment and I am now of the impression that it was pure bliss. Although the agony of my miles in Dallas remain with me, I find that it is a reminder of why I run. To know that I am here. To feel that I am here and push that to the extreme. It has not always been pleasant, but it has always been satisfying.

Just to add to the reasons you might run. . .how about crossing a finish line to the friendly chants of "Pre, Pre, Pre". That alone got me through many a race.

As a runner I agree, but doesn't a nice bowl of ice cream also remind us that we are here? :) How about enjoyment as well as pain?
